White Lighthouse

Here is a lighthouse that I did a painting of. When I started it, I did not realize it would be so tall. One can see that it barely fits on my canvas with a part on top that is above the top of the canvas. It still came out nice. It was inspired / created using a photo in a calendar. It was on lighthouses. I like doing paintings of lighthouses. I will be doing more in the future.

It is not part of my Cafe Press TomLeeM store but I thought I would post a link to it anyway. It could be part of it in the future.

White Flowers

I saw a photo of a whole bunch of white flowers. I think they were pretty. I wanted to make a painting of it. I think it came out really nice. I normally do a painting where the flower is really big. This time I decided to do many little flowers.

I have taken photos of the paintings I do using my cell phone - Samsung Note 4. It seems the camera app that came with it does not do well. I use a free app called Camera 360. It seems to do quite well. I also use my tablet computer - Samsung Tab 2. It does quite well in taking photos. I usually use that when going to places and posting those photos to Facebook.

I have it on my Cafe Press TomLeeM store. I put it on items that I thought it would look good on and those items that I could get the photo file to fit on. I used my tablet computer to take the photos. I have quite a few of my paintings at the store but not all of them.

A Close Up Of A Cow and A Lone Cow In Front of Barn

This is a painting of a lone cow in front of a barn. I saw a photo of it in a Yankee Magazine. In the photo, the barn wasn't as wide as in the painting. Since I had a wider canvas, I widened the barn too. I think the result was better than expected. It was fun to create.

This is a painting of a close up of a cow. It is from the same photo as the other painting with a lone cow. The photo that inspired this painting is the same as the first painting. It was a Yankee Magazine. Since it has a little closer than the first one, it has a little more detail. I think it came out quite well.

It is part of my Cafe Press TomLeeM (close up) store. It is part of my Cafe Press TomLeeM (wide view) store. I chose items that I thought it would look good on.

I did this painting of a plate. Instead of making it look like a plate, I painted it to look like one is viewing the cows through the round hole in a building. The cows - like the plate it is based on - is looking at you looking at them. It is not part of Cafe Press store.

I saw a photo of a windmill with the sun behind it. I think it came out well. It is a small painting. It is on canvas board instead of stretched canvas. I like the different hues of red that is in the photo and tried to replicate them in the painting. One could see it as a sunset or as a sunrise; depending on which way one is looking.

It is on my Cafe Press TomLeeM store. I chose items that would look good with it on them. Having the image of the painting on different items is like sharing the painting without having to sell the original. I put a lot of work into each one.

Blue Teddy Bear

I created this painting of a blue teddy bear just for fun. I did not want to create a traditional sitting pose but one that would seem more playful. I chose blue since it is my favorite color. I think it would work with any color or colors.

It was created during an art class that had students of all ages. The thing I liked about the class was one could chose the subject to paint and medium to create it in (not always paint but could be charcoal, pencil, pen, etc).

I have created other paintings of teddy bears. One was a group of teddy bears looking at the person viewing the painting. I had sent it to my sister who later gave it to her friend.

I have it on my Cafe Press TomLeeM store. I think it takes on an abstract look to it since the whole painting is not entirely on any one item.

Blue Teapot

This wasn't created from a photo but from my imagination. I thought it would be neat to do a painting of a blue teapot. It is not perfect but it was a lot of fun to create. I chose a teapot since I like drinking tea. It is blue since I like the color blue. I don't think the design actually exists. It is not a big painting. I think it would be nice in an area where people enjoy tea.

It is on my Cafe Press TomLeeM store. I chose items that it will look good on.

Colorful Flowers

I did a painting of some colorful flowers. I thought it would look good as a painting. It came out pretty nice. It took awhile to get just the look I was wanting. I usually like to do the painting of the flower as a big one but this was a bunch of smaller flowers. I called it colorful flowers since I don't remember what kind they were. It was a lot of fun to create.
Like so many of my artwork I have done, it was completed in an adult education class. It was nice since we chose what we wanted to do a painting of and the art teacher helped us achieve the look we wanted to get. Creating art was a lot of fun and very educational.

I have it on my Cafe Press TomLeeM store. Some of the items I chose to have it on are jewelry. It seems like a good match. I need to take higher resolution photos so I can expand the number of items my artwork is on.

Abstract Forrest?

I did a painting of a forest in winter time. It is of a photo but it took on an abstract look. There are times that I think it would look good right side up or upside down or even sideways. My initials - the way I 'sign' a painting - is always on the bottom right of the painting. It is - in cases like this - how I figure out which way to show it.
It was created in an adult education art class. There were 'students' of all ages in the classes doing all sorts of art. I liked the class since we could paint what we wanted and the medium that we chose.

I have it on my Cafe Press TomLeeM store. I chose items that I thought it would look good on.  Once I get a better photos's - ones with higher density - I can ad more items for this painting.

Yellow Flowers

I did a painting of yellow flowers. It has an abstract look to if but it is based on a photo of flowers. It is not a big painting.  It did not take long even though there is some detail to the flowers. It did not come out as well as I had hoped but it does look nice. It was an earlier painting completed when I was first taking a class in art. It was with other similar sized paintings of flowers.

I have it in my Cafe Press TomLeeM store. I have put it on items that I thought it would look good on. I don't make a lot of money from my store. Cafe Press does all the work and I get a small percentage from the sale of the item. It is neat that one can upload an image or design and sell things with it on.

Multi Colored Row Boats

I saw a photo of many colorful row boats docked and tied together at a park. I liked how they were different colors. The row boats themselves were varied in style. The photo of the boats were boats. I chose the wider canvas since I wanted it to have different format than the paintings I normally do. It was a lot of fun to create. I like how it came out.

It was created in an adult education class in New Jersey. It was in a local high school. It was in the evening. It was once a week. The class has since stopped for a variety of reasons. It was a positive experience.

I have it on my Cafe Press TomLeeM store. It is on some items that I thought it would look good on. Once I get better higher density photos of my artwork, it will have a greater number things it will be on.

Yellow White Flowers

I did a painting of some yellow white flowers that I saw in a calendar. I like doing paintings of photos that I find in calendars. Some are done inspired by photos in a newspaper and some from photos that I have taken. Since I did the painting years ago, I don't remember what the calendar indicated what the flowers were.
I created this many years ago in an adult education class that I took with my father. After the class was cancelled, I have not created any since. Now that I have retired from my job in NJ, I am planning on getting back to painting. I will add them to my Cafe Press store.

It is on my Cafe Press TomLeeM store. I added items that I thought it would look good on and had the right photo density for the item.

Surreal Landscape?

I did a painting of a landscape that is of an actual place but it has a surreal look to it. It has a modernistic look to it. It was fun to create and had a 'did I do that?' feel when it was completed. It is hard to believe this place actually exists. It was a photo from a calendar. It is of mountains with a lake surrounded by trees.
It is one of the paintings that I completed at an adult education class in a local high school in East Windsor / Hightstown NJ. It was a neat class since one chose what one wanted to do a painting of and the instructor helped achieve the look one want to get.

I have it on my Cafe Press TomLeeM store. I chose things that I thought it would look good on. Once the photos is better and at a higher density, I will be able to have it on more items.

Forest Stream

I did a painting of a photo I saw in a calendar. I liked the colors and the fact it had a stream. I wanted my painting to be as colorful as the photo. I believe it shows early fall with some leaves turning color and others remaining green. It is about 2 feet wide and a foot and a half tall.

It was completed in an adult education class in a local high school. There were students from very young to very old and everywhere in between. The class was stopped since the class room it was held in was in the back of the school and - due to security - the school could only entered from the front entrance. It was too far for many of the older students to walk. Plus there was some friction with the high school art teacher claiming that the adult education class left a mess in the class room.

It is in my Cafe Press TomLeeM store. I chose things that I thought would look good on and the photo size would fit onto. It will vary as I get better photos of my art work.

Red Poinsettia

I decided to do a painting of a red poinsettia. I wanted it to be 'larger than life'. It was not easy to get it just right but it came out nicely once it was finished. It was created in a class that I took with my father. He is gone but the memory of him and the class lives on.
I read that the way to get the poinsettia to have the colorful leaves is to regulate the time it spends in light and in dark. The normal color of the poinsettia is green with red stems. I have been growing one in my home for over a year and it is getting quite big. It is still green. It ads some color to my home and helps with the air.
The photo is from the Wikipedia page on the poinsettia (link above photo).

I have it in my Cafe Press TomLeeM store. I chose items that would good with the painting on them. I like my Cafe Press store since I can share my art without having to worry how to price each painting. Cafe Press - like other sites with the same idea - seems like a good way to raise money. They do the work and one gets a small share as earnings. The trick is to get people to visit the online store. It is one of the reasons I created the blog Big Artist Guy; also to share in art related items.
